It's a wrap

I had intended to post about my weekend of catering but I didn’t realise how much is involved in feeding a crew of 20 hungry people lunch and dinner for 3 days. J was directing a short movie he wrote and in a moment of weakness I agreered to do the catering. To be honest I started out thinking I would get out my cookbooks and try something a little different but as it got closer to the shoot date I went for the easy option. I made wraps, sambos and burgers for lunches - all gourmet of course. Lasagne, Chilli con carnie and Pizza for dinners. I can’t believe the amount of logistics involved in making a movie and I’m only talking about from the catering point of view. I couldn’t stop thinking about Lord of the Rings and how did they managed to feed ALL those extras. Hats off to them.
Either I didn’t make enough food or what I did make tasted good because after each meal there was absolutely nothing left. These were a very hungry cast and crew. It was one of the hottest September weekends in history and the shoot was in an office where the air conditioning didn’t operate at the weekend, so under the lights everything was roasty toasty hot. Lucky for me, I got to escape the set to head home and prepare the next meal. I then had to transport it back to the set and clean up after. Between trips to the set, trips to the shops, endless washing up and continuous food preparation I didn’t take a single photo of the food I prepared. I definitely missed out on a great food blog opportunity.
Look out for J's movie in all the best short film festivals. It's working title is 'High Jump'. I'll say no more for the moment.

How exciting! Having been on a few film shoots myself I know how ravenous the cast and crew can get. Good on you for having a go, I'm sure it wasn't an easy task.
So when will the film be screening? Is it for Tropfest by any chance?
I will keep an eye out for the movie.
It was exciting. There was a sneeze in there somewhere in case they want to submit it to Tropfest but I think it will be about 12 minutes long so it will be suited to other short film festivals too
i wasn't looking too closely, i thought that was hugh grant (-; - tian
